Anandamayi Ma: Exploring a Day of Spirituality
In the Wisdom Seekers Circle, we recently read the book Anandamayi Ma, a Goddess Among Us. In one of the chapters of the book, Anandamayi Ma suggests her devotees to try living their ideal spiritual day. We found this very interesting and were very eager to try. The only criteria was to make the day more meaningful in our own way. After practicing such a day, we shared our experiences in the book club, and it was so interesting to listen to everyone’s reflections. Here are some of the key takeaways from our experiences.
Meditation: Since the start of the book club, we have been learning about meditation, and many of us have implemented it in our ideal spiritual day. We found that practicing meditation for 10 minutes during the day helped increase focus. Starting our day with meditation felt like we started the day on a positive note.
Healthy Living: Eating healthy and taking some time to exercise made us feel lighter and more active during the day. We felt like the lazy mode was disabled from our body settings and felt a lot more energized.
Spending Time with Baba and Guruji: Spending more time with Baba and Guruji Tatayya was an important aspect of our ideal day. We sat in front of Baba for some time in the morning and listened to namam while doing our daily activities.
Mindfulness: Being mindful throughout the day was an important aspect. Some of us picked a busy day on purpose to practice mindfulness with different tasks. When reflecting on this, we noticed that we were more present and we felt very productive throughout the day. Whenever our thoughts drifted, it was like the Baba namam in the background was calling us back to the present.
Reducing Screen Time: Some book club members decided to delete a few social media apps in the morning, as they usually serve as distractions. This made our studying/work time a lot more effective and significantly reduced our screen time.
Controlling Emotions: Being aware of our emotions throughout the day and controlling anger was another aspect some tried. We became naturally calmer and charmer when talking to others.
Meditation, a healthy lifestyle, spending more time with Baba and Guruji Tatayya, mindfulness, reduced screen time, and controlled emotions are the aspects that contributed to our spiritual day. Living a day in spirituality was not without its challenges, yet we found so many benefits. Practicing mindfulness made our day a lot more productive. We discovered that making small changes in our daily lives made a big impact on our overall well-being, the way that simply deleting social media reduced our screen time and meditating for 10 minutes in the morning made us feel calmer. After experiencing our ideal spiritual day, we felt it would be amazing to spend every day this way, which will lead to a happier and more fulfilling life.
