Fashion

Written by Tapaswini Bhavanam

Fashion has been a huge part of my life ever since I was young. When I was five years old, I decided that I want to become a Fashion Designer when I grow up. Since then, I haven’t changed my mind. My passion for fashion isn’t limited to one interest but has many aspects to it. For instance, I love dressing up in cool outfits, doing different hairstyles, putting makeup on, and more. Ever since I was young, I have loved doing all these things and my whole personality revolved around fashion. At a very young age, I would draw and design clothes, such as this ramp walk drawing. When I was around seven years old, I made clothes for my dolls with scraps that I found around the house.

Over the years, as my love for fashion designing increased, I decided to learn how to sew. When I was around ten years old, I joined a stitching class in India, where I learned all the basics. While I was there, I stitched my first official dress, which I made for my cousin as you can see in the picture. My mom further encouraged me by getting me a new sewing machine and setting up a working station for me to stitch.

Now, I stitch clothes, adjust my own clothes, and make scrunchies (hair bands) for fun. I enjoy designing different styles of scrunchies for myself, my friends and family.

I have always had a creative way of thinking when it came to fashion. As time went by, my passion grew bigger and bigger and now, I am known for my fashion sense. If my friends or family ever need help with their hair, makeup, or anything that has to do with fashion, I am at the top of their list. I aspire to have a career in the fashion industry when I grow up. I strongly believe that Baba and Guruji Thaathayya’s blessing will get me there! Lastly, the main reason that I love fashion is because it allows me to express my true and best self to the world.
